Pine Lake, Leighton Moss & Sizergh Castle, 23/10/09

Hawfinch

Great White Egg & Little Egg

All photos digiscoped. The day started with a visit to Pine Lake to see the Slavonian Grebe that was present but, to distant for photographing. Next onto the Allen Pools in an attempt to see the 2 Great White Egrets. Eventually one put in an appearance here while the other was seen from Grizedale Hide later on. Finally a visit to Sizergh Castle to try and see the Hawfinches that have been around of late. Thankfully 2 birds showed and so completed the hat-trick of top birds for the day.

Isn't it great when it goes to plan? Sounds like a very successful day.

Do you think they'll be waxwings in Chorley this winter?
